POLICE COMBAT JOURNAL:

The Combato System™
Real World Combat When It Counts

American Combato (Jen-Do-Tao) ™, the most comprehensive and practical combat martial arts system, was established in 1975 by Professor Bradley Steiner. Prof. Steiner founded the system after many painstaking years in both traditional martial arts and in the unconventional close quarter battle systems of World War II. Research was also thoroughly conducted by Prof. Steiner on the personal battle experiences of military, intelligence and law enforcement professionals. The various tactics of violent criminals and street fighters were carefully analyzed, and even the tricks employed by incarcerated felons were studied. No stone was left unturned to uncover and discover the most effective techniques in the areas of both armed and unarmed combat.

Current Law Enforcement Training

As law enforcement officers, we are often introduced to the latest methods of so-called “defensive” tactics. What is instructed in many law enforcement academies may look effective in a sterilized training environment, and may even work when done with a cooperative training partner. However, real world encounters reveal, sometimes tragically, the serious shortcomings of these methods. This ineffective training is most often conducted by instructors who have little or no real world experience and teach skills that are only socially and politically palatable, but not combat worthy or reliable. In addition, the methods taught at our academies are derived from sporting/competitive or classical techniques, not from real world combat.

Real Word Combat

Prof. Steiner has done the most comprehensive, thorough and complete job on organizing all of the worthwhile martial art systems, and of synthesizing them into a logical, complete and modern close combat art: American Combato™. He has, in combining the WWII systems, blended the strong points of the martial arts into the curriculum. What works in real combat is the foundation of American Combato™ - whether with unarmed action, knives, pistols, sticks or other hand held personal weapons. POLICECOMBATJOURNAL.COM was created to ensure that vital and life-saving information, as instructed in the American Combato (Jen-Do-Tao) ™ System, is available for law enforcement officers pursuing real world combatives training.
